Program/Service Notes:
25 to 50% of adults and teenagers across the country are unaware of the harmful and potentially fatal effects of shaking a baby. Shaken Infant Syndrome describes the serious injuries that occur when a young child is severely or violently shaken. It can result in serious injury such as paralysis, blindness, brain injury and even death. Yet, mild to moderate shaking is a fairly common child-rearing and discipline practice. Shaken Infant Syndrome presentations are available for your parent, student or professional groups. Please assist in the education about the prevention of this tragedy by sharing this valuable information. Shaken Infant Syndrome is preventable. We can protect our future by educating ourselves and others.
