Program/Service Notes:
The Victim Advocate for Child Abuse Division works with the victims of violent crimes from the time a crime occurs until prosecution and sentencing of the defendant. Assistance provided includes: 1.) help get property back when it is no longer needed as evidence; 2.) Guidance in applying for Violent Crimes Compensation; 3.) Emotional support to the victim; 4.) Referral to professional counselors when needed; 5.) Updates on the status of a criminal case; 6.) Information on police, court and prosecution procedures; 7.) Education about crime and its prevention; 8.) Information regarding protective orders. The LP Co. Prosecuting Attorney's office recognizes the very complex and special issues confronted by victims of child abuse. These victims, along with their families, often require special attention.
