Works with the victims of violent crimes that occur in the Westside Area of Michigan City from the time a crime occurs until prosecution and sentencing of the defendant. Assistance provided includes: 1) Help get property back when it is no longer needed as evidence 2) Guidance in applying for Violent Crime Compensation 3) Emotional support tot he victim 4) Referral to professional counselors when needed 5) Updates on the status of a criminal case 6) Information on police, court and prosecution procedures 7) Education about crime and its prevention 8) Information regarding protective orders. We recognize the very complex and special issues confronted by victims of violent crimes. These victims, along with their families, often require special attention.
