South of Michigan City off US 421, this 160-acre parcel that the LaPorte County Park Foundation presently holds is host to a variety of wildlife. It includes a 100-acre state-dedicated nature preserve and headwaters to the Little Calumet River with 23 acres of wetlands and open water.

The LaPorte County Council and Commission recently approved moving the County Park Department offices to Red Mill and updating Canada Lodge, a facility the public will be able to rent for reunions, wedding receptions, private parties, retreats, education and group gatherings. Canada Lodge, for groups of up to 150, will include a large hall, kitchen, restrooms, new entrance, parking lot and deck overlooking the park. The new park offices will be connected to the lodge.
